Under the Taliban, TikTok has been banned since April 2022, and from mid-September 2025 fibre-optic internet was switched off province by province (Balkh, Badakhshan, Kandahar and others) in the name of fighting 'vice'. Between 29 September and 1 October 2025 the shutdown became nationwide, cutting both internet and mobile services, as Amnesty International documented while demanding that access be restored and CNN reported from the blackout. Given this record, social media could be blocked again at any time. No age-verification requirement applies.
